1850 Hotel Guanajuato is located in the centre of this charming colonial city that was declared by UNESCO as a world heritage site. The city, located at an elevation of 2000 meters, has played a key role in the Spanish colonization of Mexico and in the independence movement afterwards. In the 18th century, it was the world’s leading silver extraction center, making it the richest city in Mexico for much of the early colonial period.
