Air Asia X offers one way 99 EUR Paris to Kuala Lumpur

UPDATE: Air Asia has stopped flying to Europe.

AirAsia X is offering a promotional fare between Kuala Lumpur and Paris from RM499 (€99) one way. The promotional fare is available for booking online from 22 to 24 November, 2010 (22 November – 00:00 hrs Paris time, 7am Malaysia). You have to travel between 14 February and 10 November 2011. There are 4 direct flights per week  starting 14 February 2011 between Paris-Orly International Airport and Kuala Lumpur. With only a few seats available in this fare class, you will need to book immediately.

AirAsia also offers premium economy seats, which they claim are as comfortable as traditional business class seats, for only 550 EUR one way. These are amazing fares because you can fly to Kuala Lumpur and hang out in one of Malaysia’s resorts, or catch a connecting flight to Bangkok, Bali, Singapore, and other Asian locations.

AirAsia is a three-year old budget airline (in which Virgin Group has a stake) and they are aggressively getting customers away from established carriers such as Air France (which charges much more money and stuffs you in one of their old jets). Air Asia also flies to London Stansted airport. Budget air travel used to be confined to short-haul, regional flights on carriers flying ancient planes. Not anymore.
