L’Albiousse is luxurious intimate boutique hotel located in a historic townhouse in the heart of Uzès, a charming walled town that has been the seat of the Dukes of Uzès for centuries. Uzès is a perfect base for excursions to the Pont du Gard, Arles, Nîmes and the countryside of Languedoc.
L’Albiousse is the creation of Alexis and Gwilym who have done a marvelous job in renovating the building and decorating its interiors.
L’Albiousse has two bedrooms and two suites, whose contemporary decor blend exquisitely into the restored 18th century stone edifice. Vaulted ceilings, a charming courtyard with flagstones, antiques and period pieces give you a feeling of lodging in an authentic Languedoc patrician home. Warm neutral colours, tiled floors, high beamed ceilings, and fireplaces create an atmosphere of tranquility.
The two bedrooms face the rue due Docteur Blanchard and have double beds of 160 cm in length. The suites are much larger and come equipped with iMacs, 180-cm beds, and an espresso machine. One of the suites has a private terrace with a daybed and faces the courtyard. We stayed in the suite with the private terrace, which overlooks the courtyard and its quaint tinkling fountain, and we loved it (see photo above). It was a quiet, relaxing stay. Guests are provided with bath and body products from REN, a luxury skincare company.
Breakfast is included in the price of the rooms and suites, and is served outside in the courtyard (weather permitting). You can also have dinner at L’Albiousse if you inform the owners in advance (approximately 40 EUR per person). They will prepare dishes created from fresh locally sourced ingredients.
If you prefer to have dinner outside the hotel, you will find many options among the restaurants on the Place aux Herbes, the main square of Uzès, and along the side streets. Ask Alexis and Gwilym for their recommendations because they know the restaurants with the best food in Uzès.
