If you are going to Brussels and want a stylish, modern hotel with reasonable prices, check out the Aloft Brussels Schuman, located close to the offices of the European Union’s institutions. The hotel has 147 rooms with a choice of either an Aloft room or a Breezy loft. All rooms are very spacious with nine-foot ceilings and large windows to let in lots of natural light.
The decor is urban, contemporary and decidedly very high tech. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Note that many large European hotels still charge hideous fees for Wi-Fi, so the Aloft’s free Wi-Fi service is fantastic. The rooms also have large screen LCD TVs and docking stations for iPods. If you’re hungry and don’t want to venture outside, the hotel has a “grab and go” food and beverage station stocked with salads, sandwiches and drinks. Or if you are lonely, you can hang out in the w xyz bar, which looks very cool.
The Aloft Hotel concept is similar to citizenM. Both hotel groups target business travelers who appreciate stylish decor and insist on high tech amenities such as free Wi-Fi and iPod docking stations. Both hotels offer rooms that are reasonably priced; they cut their costs by not having a full service restaurant on the premises. They also create inviting spaces where guests will want to hang out. I’d say this is a winning concept, especially today when business and leisure travelers are more budget-conscious.
The Aloft Hotel group (which is part of Starwood Hotels) has opened more than 40 hotels in Canada, China, the United Arab Emirates, India and the United States. They are planning hotel openings in Thailand and the UK. The Aloft Brussels Schuman is their first hotel in Europe.
Prices start at the unbelievable rate of €75 per night (special offer).
