Ascott Raffles Place: serviced apartments in Singapore CBD

If you are coming to Singapore and want to stay for a few days or weeks, check out the Ascott Raffles Place in the heart of the central business district (CBD), just steps away from the Raffles Place MRT (subway) and Marina Bay. I stayed in the Ascott Raffles for a month and was very pleased with the apartment, location, service, and amenities (see the amazing glass-walled swimming pool below).

Compared to most hotels and serviced apartment buildings in Singapore, the Ascott Raffles Place is quite small and personal; it is located in a restored Art Deco building that was, in the 1950s, the tallest edifice in Singapore. Now it is surrounded by much taller glass skyscrapers that sadly block most of the views onto the Marina Bay.

Location: If you have meetings in the CBD, this is the most convenient place to stay. Most of the other hotels are up the road by Marina Place and SunTec City (20-30 minutes walk) or even further away on Orchard Street. The Ascott Raffles Place is also only two blocks from the wonderful Lau Pa Sat hawker centre and if you like to run, it is just a few steps away from Marina Bay. You are  5 minutes away from the Marina Bay Sands shopping center, casino and entertainment complex. Club Street and Chinatown are only minutes away on foot.

The one-bedroom apartments are spacious, with walk-in closets, living room, dining room, kitchen, a working space, and washer-dryer. It’s best to ask for a higher floor as the noise from the traffic and construction below can be maddening. Below are some photos of the serviced apartments.
