Finding a modern boutique hotel in Rome used to be difficult: your choices were limited to 3-star hotels with no air-conditioning or 5-star grand hotels that have been barely renovated in the last 100 years. Now a new generation of young entrepreneurs is changing the hotel scene in Rome, introducing new small-scale, modern boutique hotels in excellent locations.
Babuino 181 Luxury Suites is located in Rome’s most exclusive area in the heart of the upscale Spanish Steps quarter near Via Condotti, and it is as chic as its neighboring boutiques. Start your day with breakfast on the brand new rooftop terrace overlooking Rome’s beautiful streets. Breakfast consists of a variety of cakes, breads, cheeses, charcuterie, fruit, cereal, yogurt, milk, and coffee (espresso, cappuccino, caffe latte). After a day of inspiration, shopping and touring Rome’s monuments, you can have cocktails on the roof and later soak in a spacious marble bath and fall asleep between Frette sheets. All rooms have free WiFi and complementary Nespresso machines. All showers and baths are new and modern, and most rooms face a quiet alley away from street noise.
We stayed at Babuino 181 last December and found its location to be ideal for sightseeing and shopping, especially since we like to walk. Our room was large, comfortable and very quiet. The staff were helpful in arranging transportation to and from the airport, and in making reservations at two excellent restaurants close to the hotel. The staff speak English well and attend closely to the needs of their guests. We would definitely come back to this hotel if we plan another trip to Rome.
