ArtHotel Blaue Gans: contemporary art hotel in Salzburg, Austria

hotel salzburg

ArtHotel Blaue Gans bills itself specifically as “not a design hotel” but an art boutique hotel in the center of Salzburg, within walking distance from Salzburg’s most impressive historic monuments. Indeed, it is across the Festival Hall and only a few houses down from Mozart’s birthplace.

Established in the year 660, it also happens to be the oldest inn in the city. The hotel can be described as minimalist meets medieval pulled off with flair. There are 37 rooms and free WiFi. Each room is uniquely decorated with ancient wooden beams, stucco ceilings and think walls. As you walk through the corridors, you will come across charming vaults among the many nooks and crannies. Furthermore, as you explore the hotel you will find over 100 original pieces of art.

The restaurant offers an atmosphere of comfort and relaxation along with excellent food.  The bar has a modern urban design and has an open and light feeling. This is an ideal venue for either the start or end of a successful evening.   There is also an outdoor dining area surrounded by olive and fig trees which will give a pleasant taste of summer.
