Hotel Cavalieri is a beautifully designed boutique hotel in the ancient city of Siracusa (Syracuse) on the island of Sicily in Italy. Located on via Malta, just across the mythical islet of Ortigia (Ortygia), it is within walking distance to all the main sights of Siracusa, but is still easily accessible by car. Hotel Cavalieri is decorated in a minimal, elegant style. It appeals to people who appreciate clean modern design of the renovated 19th century building. The hall is paved with the warm yellow stone of Modica and the dark Pece Stone of Noto. The hotel is owned and managed by the Lo Manto family, who are architects and designers, and whose private antique collection is on view in the hotel.
You can choose from among four types of rooms: Classic, Superior, DeLuxe and Suite Cavalieri. All come with king-sized beds, free WiFi, air conditioning, satellite TV and a mini bar. Breakfast is included in the room price and features fresh juice, Sicilian cakes and other local specialities.
Hotel Cavalieri has parking spots on street, on Via Malta, right next to the entrance of the hotel. You need to tell them in advance that you will need a parking spot if you are arriving by car. There is also a public parking garage 50 metres from the hotel.
Siracusa is one of the most important ancient cities of the Mediterranean. It was the birthplace of Archimedes. It was founded almost 2700 years ago by Greek Corinthians and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend time walking around Ortigia to absorb the atmosphere of its narrow winding streets. There is a 6th century mikva, a Jewish ritual bath, underneath the Algila Hotel which is a must-see if you want to experience the historical delights of Ortigia. Other important monuments are the Cathedral and the Temple of Apollo.
There are so many good restaurants in Siracusa featuring local cuisine which is based on seafood. Ask your hosts for recommendations to avoid the overly touristy places.
