Hotel Torralbenc is a new stylish 15-room luxury boutique hotel in Menorca. The owners converted a series of traditional white-washed Menorcan farm buildings into a chic contemporary hotel with a swimming pool and a restaurant. Hotel Torralbenc is the first truly modern luxury boutique hotel in Menorca, an island that, unlike Ibiza and Mallorca, has not kept up with the demand for small-scale luxury accommodations with contemporary design. Most accommodations on the island of Menorca consist of villa rentals, chain hotel rooms, budget B&Bs and country houses filled with antique furniture.
Hotel Torralbenc is located close to Alaior on a small hill surrounded by vineyards with lovely views of the Mediterranean. It sits between Mahón, the capital of Menorca, and Ciudadela, not far from the best beaches on the island. It is closest to the Cala en Porter beach.
A former store-house on the property, which was used in the past for the grape harvest and storage of wine barrels, has been converted into a gastronomic restaurant. The restaurant reflects the culinary roots of the island, rich with the flavours of the Mediterranean and the Menorcan land, and always offering seasonal produce from local suppliers. The kitchen is under the guidance of renowned chef Paco Morales, who was awarded a Michelin Star for his eponymous restaurant in Ontinyent.
There are 5 kinds of rooms at Torralbenc: Albenc, Superior, Sea View, Garden Cottage and Pool Cottage. All rooms feature natural fabrics in neutral colours. The Sea View rooms have private garden level terraces so you can sit outside your room and look out onto the Mediterreanean. The Pool Cottage faces south and has its own private plunge pool. What I love about Hotel Torralbenc is the combination of modern design with traditional Menorcan architecture in a tranquil location.
