La Bastide de Boulbon: charming boutique hotel, romantic dinners in the Provence

La Bastide de Boulbon interior

La Bastide de Boulbon is a wonderful 10-room boutique hotel ideally situated between Avignon, Les Baux de Provence, Saint Rémy de Provence, and Arles. It is not far from the Pont du Gard (the impressive Roman aqueduct), which is a must-see for anyone visiting the region. Only 5 kilometres away is the Abbey of Frigolet (Abbaye de Frigolet), a monastery that dates back to the 1100s.

La Bastide de Boulbon is housed in a rustic mansion that dates back to 1850 and has been lovingly restored by a couple from Belgium. The rooms are modern (none of that fusty old farmhouse furniture here) and there is a swimming pool for those hot lazy Provençal days.

If you feel like a romantic dinner by candlelight, you don’t need to venture any further. The hotel has a restaurant whose chef, Antoine Roguet, prepares delicious, fresh dishes from the region.
