Louis Hotel: Munich's latest boutique hotel opens on the Viktualienmarkt

Munich is a lively, beautiful city that combines a vibrant city life with nature. When I am in Munich, I always go to the Englischer Garten, walk along the Isar River, and dine at one of the city’s many chic restaurants. So I am very pleased to find out that a new boutique hotel has opened on the Viktualienmarkt, a large square that has a delightful outdoor market and food stalls.

The latest cool place to stay is the Louis Hotel, which is owned by the same group that runs the Cortiina (also on my list of favorite Munich hotels). Yes, the Viktualienmarkt is touristy, but it’s also very Munich, so you can enjoy weisswurst (if that’s your kind of thing) and Bavarian beer on a warm spring day. The hotel’s location couldn’t be better. You’re close to the Frauenkirche, Marienplatz, and the boutiques of the Theatinerstrasse. If you don’t feel like eating heavy Bavarian food, the hotel has a Japanese restaurant called Emiko, whose chefs were trained in Tokyo. The hotel has 72 rooms which are spacious and decorated with a lot of wood and neutral colors.
