Opposite House: stunning luxury design hotel in Beijing

If you are traveling to Beijing and want to stay in a contemporary luxury hotel, check out the Opposite House, designed by Japanese architect, Kengo Kuma. What impresses one most about the Opposite House is the astonishing amount of light and space not just in the lobby and other public areas, but also in the rooms.

There are 98 large studios ranging in size from 45 square metres to 115 square meters, including 9 suites and a penthouse duplex with a 240 square metre terrace. The style is ultra chic and minimalist, with warm touches added by lots of wood and fabric. The rooms have free Wi-Fi, luxury beddings, LCD TV, spa inspired bathrooms with rain showers and deep soaking tubs. But I think one of the most amazing places in this hotel is the 22 metre stainless steel swimming pool (below).

The hotel is located in the Sanlitun district, close to many embassies and the central business area. It also has two excellent restaurants: Sureñ0 (Mediterranean cuisine) and Bei (food from Japan, Northern China and Korea).

Room prices start at $300 per night.
