Pavillon de Galon is a stunning bed and breakfast (B&B or chambre d’hôtes) in the heart of the Luberon, within walking distance from the charming village of Cucuron and its gastronomic delights. What makes Pavillon de Galon stand out from other B&Bs and hotels in the area is its lavish garden, which has been recognized by the French Ministry of Culture and Environment. From the garden you can gaze out onto the Provence countryside and the mountains beyond, and admire the flowering lavender and olive trees.
The house is a restored 18th century hunting pavilion built of stone that has two large suites for guests, each of which has a private entrance and terraces, views over the garden, facing south. You can also rent both rooms if you want the utmost privacy for your family. The rooms have two twin beds or a 180 cm king sized bed. There’s a TV and free WiFi.
If you like to swim, Pavillon de Galon has a heated infinity pool that measures 15×5 metres, set amidst the lovely gardens, with wooden decks for relaxing in the sun. There is also a large natural pool (30×13 metres) fed by fresh water springs. Hiking is another popular activity in this area because it is set within the Luberon Natural Park, a protected nature reserve. You can get maps of hiking trails from the local tourist office or ask the hosts for their recommendations.
The location of Pavillon de Galon is ideal as a base for exploring nearby towns such as Goult, Lacoste, Menerbes, Bonnieux, Gordes, Roussillon, and Lourmarin. It is also within a short driving distance to Aix-en-Provence and Avignon, and Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (best known for its antique markets and shops). If you love good food, there are so many excellent restaurants close by and it is best to ask the advice of your hosts. You can also go on wine tasting tours in vineyards in Provence.
Prices for a suite start at 175 Euros, with the high season being more expensive. There is a 2-night minimum stay.
