The Picasso Makati Serviced Residences in Metro Manila is a great option for those planning to stay a few days or weeks in the city. The hotel is located in Makati, the main business and commercial hub of Manila and within walking distance to Salcedo Market, and the Makati sports club. The recent economic boom in The Philippines has seen the opening of several boutique hotels, and Picasso Makati is a welcome alternative to the Shangri La and other standard luxury chain hotels. The Picasso Makati Boutique Serviced Residences is located in an older building that has been fully and creatively renovated. The architect of the Picasso Makati, Dominic Galicia of Dominic Galicia Architects, used the idea of Cubism as the main motif and he is quoted on the hotel site: “the idea of seeing one thing, an object in space, from different vantage points and then reassembling those different views into a new form. So you’re taking an object that you see every day and seeing it in a totally new way – that’s the chord in Picasso that struck us.” Given the task of repurposing an old landmark into something new and exciting, Galicia, together with interior designer Tina Periquet of Periquet Galicia, turned to Pablo Picasso’s art for inspiration. The design team transformed the building into a canvas for re-imagining something old into something vibrant and new.
