Ever fancy staying in a palace built for the wives of the Maharajas? Then, check out The Ranvas, a luxury hotel in Nagaur, north of Jodhpur in Rajasthan, India. The hotel opened in September 2010 and is a jewel inside the fourth century Ahhichatragarh Fort.
This 18th century residence of the Ranis’ of Jodhpur has been beautifully restored to offer elegant accommodations. There are 10 Havelis — each Haveli was the former residence of one of the Ranis and is named after her. The hotel has 33 bedrooms that all have private courtyards and outside living areas that are decorated with local fabric and furniture.
The ruling Maharaja in the 18th century sought to create a refuge from the external troubles of warfare and politics and his creation resulted in a pleasure palace that evoked artistic senses, and that beauty still exists to this day. The Ranvas combines this rich history with modern amenities such as two restaurants, a swimming pool and Wi-Fi. The Baradari Dinning Pavilion serves local Mughal Sufi Cuisine along with other international dishes. Rooms can be chosen from the Royal Suite, Deluxe King, Deluxe Queen, and Deluxe Single with rates starting from £103 per night.
