If you are looking for a hotel by SFO (San Francisco airport), there is a new and stylish choice: Aloft San Francisco Airport, which opened in fall 2012. It is a half-mile from the airport, a half-hour drive south of downtown San Francisco, and a short drive from the Peninsula’s business hubs and attractions such as Palo Alto and Stanford University.
Aloft Hotels are owned by Starwood Hotels and focus on modern design and the “boutique” feel like the “W” hotels, but at significantly lower prices.
All guest rooms are equipped with Aloft’s standard plush platform beds, plug-n-play docking stations, 42″ LCD TV, spa showers with rainfall shower heads and free WiFi. The hotel also offers a Gym and an indoor swimming pool. Parking per day charge is $20, but complimentary airport drop-off and pickup is offered.
There is not much to do around SFO, so I would only recommend staying there if you have an early morning flight or you have a tight international connection. Otherwise, check Mapplr Favorite Hotels in San Francisco for better options in the city. The Millbrae BART and Caltrain station are not far away providing a direct connection to downtown San Francisco.
