Castell Son Claret is the latest Mallorca luxury hotel to open, promising guests a secluded, peaceful hideaway in nature. The 18th century castle has been renovated to provide the ultimate escape on an estate surrounded by mountains. Their philosophy is “The Luxury of Silence” and the idea is that guests can wander around the gardens and pathways and lounge around the pool enjoying the warm Mediterranean climate in a tranquil environment.
Castell Son Claret dates back to 1450. In the 18th century, it became the residence of Don Gabriel Claret. His family expanded the property by adding stables and an oil mill. In 2010, Christine and Klaus-Michael Kühne acquired the estate and turned it into a luxury hotel.
Castell Son Claret is located next to the village of Es Capdella on the western side of Mallorca, which is perfect for hiking, cycling and other activities. Puerto de Andratx and Santa Ponsa are a 20-minute drive away.
Castell Son Claret has 38 rooms and suites, each of which is decorated in a warm contemporary style. Luxurious bed linens and bath towels, organic bath products, large walk-in rain-showers and freestanding bathtubs in the suites are just some of the wonderful features of this hotel. Some rooms and suites have their own terrace, while others have a garden for private use. A couple of the suites created in the former stables even enjoy own pools, allowing for absolute privacy.
If you love good food, you’ll be pleased to know that the hotel’s Restaurant Zaranda has been awarded one Michelin star and is run by one of Mallorca’s best chefs, Fernando Perez Arellano.
