Hotel Le Cloitre Arles: stylish address amidst historic monuments

hotel le cloitre arles

Hotel Le Cloitre Arles is a new boutique hotel in the centre of Arles, France surrounded by historic monuments such as the ancient Church of St. Trophime (on the same street). With only 15 rooms starting in price from 75 Euros and going up to 270 Euros depending on the type of room and the season, the hotel promises to whisk you away into an oasis of peace far from the tourist crowds that pack Arles every year. The design is contemporary with splashes of colour and graphic art; it is simple and elegant yet never boring.

There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and they rent out bikes for free so you can explore Arles and the surrounding countryside. Breakfast is not included (extra 13 Euros). The hotel provides lovely bath products from L’Occitane en Provence.

The Hotel Le Cloitre Arles is just a few doors down from the Church of St. Trophime, which is built on top of a 5th century basilica. The church was constructed between the 12th and 15th centuries. Arles is an old Roman town like Avignon and Uzès, and because of its strategic location on the Rhone River, it became an important trading post.

From Arles it’s a short drive to the magnificent Pont du Gard (a Roman aqueduct), Nimes (a beautiful Roman city with a well-preserved coliseum and temple), Uzès (a walled city that is the seat of the Dukes of Uzès), and Avignon, former seat of the Popes.
